MUSE
A 2017 PhotoAccess members' exhibition

"It’s the subject matter that counts. I’m interested in revealing the subject in a new way to intensify it. A photo is able to capture a moment that people can’t always see" Harry Callahan, 20th Century American photographer. Callahan's muse was his wife Eleanor, who he photographed for more than fifty years, and the resulting images rank among the most moving photographs ever made.

The final PhotoAccess members’ exhibition for 2017, Muse, invites our members to reflect on the people in their lives who have been an inspiration to them in some way. One's muse may be a cherished face– friend, family member or lover– or perhaps someone who is an influence from afar. It is with this in mind that we invite new and existing members to creatively address the theme, Muse, through photography and photo-based art.

In the lead-up to Muse, we encourage members to take advantage of our courses and workshops. A full list is available online here. Working on film? Take advantage of our darkroom subscriptions and free access days, details available here.

Completed online entry forms and a payment of $30 are due by Friday 8 September 2017. Muse will run from 28 September – 8 October 2017 in the ‘Tall’, ‘Long’ and 'Multimedia' rooms of the PhotoAccess Huw Davies Gallery. Click here to enter.
