Concept to Publication & Concept to Short Film Showcase

Join photo access for a showcase of works created through the year-long Concept to Publication and Concept to Short Film workshops, highlighting the creative journeys and achievements of our wonderful participants.

Concept to Publication was a year-long program that explored experimental publishing and guided participants in creating innovative works such as photobooks, zines, and other printed projects. Co-taught in 2025 by artists and educators Louise Allerton and Denise Thwaites, the program combined hands-on experimentation, structured mentorship, and collaborative learning. Participants engaged in regular studio sessions from March to October, studying the history and techniques of alternative publishing while developing their own process-driven creations.

Concept to Short Film was a year-long, inclusive course that guided participants through every stage of short film production, from concept to final cut. Led by award-winning filmmaker Nathan Hughes, the program combined structure with creative freedom, offering mentorship, peer collaboration, and hands-on learning. Participants met regularly from March to October, developing confidence in storytelling, film grammar, and low-budget production techniques without the need for expensive equipment.
