Hamovit’s body of work employs childhood playtime and utilises humour as ways to deconstruct the tropes and traditions of heteronormative notions of masculinity. Hamovit’s staged and surreal images are crafted from handmade objects and sets, forming a series of imagined alternate realities. The artist cleverly employs playful absurdity to challenge and reinvent traditional masculine ideals within his fabricated realms.
