Join us for two artist talks with Corey Black and Lisa Stonham, presented in the midst of their current exhibitions at photo access. These informal conversations open out from the works on view, tracing the material, conceptual and perceptual threads that shape each artist’s practice.

Lisa Stonham

Exploring moments when time and space feel unsettled, recursive and open-ended, Lisa Stonham investigates how photography might suspend, fracture, or reconfigure temporal experience. Rethinking the photograph as continuous and unfolding, her work considers the materiality of light, the plasticity of time, and the invisible presences that shape experience.

In 2025, she completed her MFA at the National Art School, where she was awarded the Standish & Co. Scholarship. In 2024, Lisa won the Perth Centre for Photography’s Contemporary Landscape in Photography Prize. Recent exhibitions include Everyday Wonder (2024) and Looking Forward, Looking Through … Future Perfect  (2023) at Five Walls gallery and project space in Melbourne.

Corey Black

Corey Black is an artist based on Gadigal land whose practice fuses diverse fabrication methods. Collaborating with materials, technicians and machines, he employs disruptive modalities to unveil novel forms. Pushing complex compositions through occulted processes, his work probes production itself, challenging entrenched pathways of consumption, technology and seduction within 21st-century art-making.

Black holds an MFA from the National Art School. He has exhibited with Firstdraft, Minerva, Sydenham International, Hidden Rookwood and undertaken residencies at the Corridor Project and the British School at Rome. Black held the position of co-director of Schmick Contemporary in 2024.
