Yvette Hamilton is an Australian artist of Mauritian descent living on Dharug and Gundungurra land (Blue Mountains, NSW). Her photographic practice spans analogue, digital and alternative practices, and is conceptually guided by ontological explorations of photography and the link between vision and knowledge.
She is Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art at the University of Sydney and has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas over the past fifteen years. She has recently been a finalist in the Bowness Photography Prize, Mullins Conceptual Photography Prize, Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize, The Blake Prize, and the Josephine Ulrick & Winn Schubert Photography Award.
